Timmer is a defensive center mid (#6 &/or #8), often identified as the heart beat of the midfield. He was the JUCO National Player of the Year at Iowa Western CC in 2013 where he won a National Championship. He then transfered to Western Michigan University where he finished his college career.
Timmer has solid amateur experience outside of the college game as well. In 2014 he was the anchor of Lansing United's midfield as they made a run to the NPSL Final 4. In 2015 he spent the PDL season with the Portland Timbers U23's and this past summer he was tabbed Midfielder of the Year for Grand Rapids FC of the NPSL.
