Second Round of Players Announced

The Midwest Pro Soccer Combine added eleven names to the list of accepted players into the 2018 combine on Wednesday, brining the total to twenty-five players to date.

Interested players must apply to participate (applications close December 4th) and through a committee, top candidates are selected to attend the event.

To date, twenty professional clubs have confirmed their attendance with more expected to join in the coming weeks. Sixteen domestic clubs from MLS, USL Championship, USL One and NPSL Founder’s Cup will be represented along with four European clubs.

First Round of Players & Pro Clubs Released

The Midwest Pro Combine made a big step in cementing their place in the team building process as they recently announced the first round of accepted players and pro clubs into the 3rd annual combine. 14 players have been accepted in the first round, with 17 clubs spanning North America and Europe set to attend. Combine Director Eric Rudland commented, “Every year we are hopeful to draw more interest from both top players and pro clubs. We are hopeful that our 2018 event will be the best combine to date.” Player Applications for the remaining combine roster spots will be open until December 4th.

The 17 professional clubs attending include MLS, USL Championship, USL League 1, NPSL Founders Cup and 4 European based clubs. More clubs are expected to commit to attending as the event draws nearer.

North American Pro Clubs Attendance Set to Increase in 2018

Over the past two years the Midwest Pro Soccer Combine has drawn in professional clubs from across North America to scout talent. To date the event has welcomed 7 Major League Soccer (MLS) clubs and 12 United Soccer League (USL) clubs. In 2018 the number of attending clubs is forecasted to subsequently grow with the number of new professional leagues and clubs who are positioned to break into North American football.

In 2019 football in North America will welcome at least two new professional leagues in the recently announced USL League 1 (USL D3) and the inaugural Canadian Premier League (CPL). Both leagues will be formed around founding member franchises, most of which, who will be building professional rosters from scratch. Along with these two leagues there are two more rumored Division 3 leagues that may kick off professionally in 2019; the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA) and the National Premier Soccer League Pro (NPSL-Pro), both of which would add to the growing list of open jobs for professional footballers.

Along with these new leagues the USL Championship (formerly USL) has announced 6 new clubs for the 2019 season; Fresno, Hartford, Memphis, El Paso, Austin & Birmingham. All six of these organizations are starting from ground zero and will be looking for talent to build up their team rosters in anticipation of their inaugural seasons.

This is an exciting moment to be involved in North American football. Between the growth of new leagues and new franchises it is expected that over 400 new jobs will be opening up for footballers during the 2019 team building cycle. About the Midwest Pro Soccer Combine

The third annual Midwest Pro Soccer Combine will take place on Wednesday, December 18th & Thursday, December 19th at the Legacy Center Sports Complex in Brighton, Michigan. The combine will accept the top professional prospects to play for two days in front of professional coaches, scouts and intermediaries from North America and abroad.
